Privacy Policy

SmartRecord is a macOS screen recording app. This policy explains what information the app handles and how that information is used.

Summary

SmartRecord does not require an account, does not operate a cloud recording service, and does not upload your recordings, audio, screen content, or generated subtitle files to a SmartRecord server.

Information handled by the app

When you use SmartRecord, the app may process screen video, selected display or window content, microphone audio, system audio, mouse activity used for SmartFocus, exported video files, and optional VTT subtitle files. This data is used to create your recording and export files on your Mac.

Local processing

Recording, audio mixing, SmartFocus processing, H.264 export, and optional Whisper-based VTT subtitle generation are designed to run locally on your Mac. Files are saved to locations you choose or to local project folders created by the app.

Permissions

macOS may ask you to grant Screen Recording permission, Microphone permission, and access to selected files or folders. SmartRecord uses these permissions only to provide the recording, audio capture, export, and file management features you request.

No tracking or advertising

SmartRecord does not use third-party advertising SDKs and does not sell personal information. The app is not designed to track you across apps or websites.

Data sharing

SmartRecord does not share your recordings or generated subtitle files with SmartRecord servers. If you choose to send a file by email, upload it to another service, or share it through macOS, that sharing is controlled by you and the destination service.

Children's privacy

SmartRecord is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
